Valentine’s Day is cheesy to most, but it’s special to Cody & I. We met in high school & officially started dating on Valentine’s Day, aww! Since this year we celebrated out 15 Valentine’s (WHAT?!) we decided to do something special, but with running multiple businesses getting out of town for a few days wasn’t an option so we decided on a quick staycation here in Charleston!
We started off our staycation after work on the 13th with dinner at Señor Tequila, our favorite cheap delicious Mexican restaurant in a strip mall. It doesn’t sound glamorous, but back in high school Cody & I didn’t have much money so we always celebrated every special moment with cheap Mexican food & I’m proud to say that tradition is still alive & well! I even had my 30th birthday there! We officially kicked off Valentine’s Day with Cody sleeping in while I went & had a blow out at the cutest salon in West Ashley, Pampered & Pretty Salon.
Lodging | We packed our bags & headed downtown Charleston to The Dewberry. Their bar, The Living Room, has been a favorite of ours for sometime so when looking for a night away from home The Dewberry was a no brainer! Y’all, I died when we walked into our room (which we got an upgrade on, yay!). It was so beautiful & now I want to redecorate the entire house.
Cocktails | After check in we wandered around downtown before heading to The Dewberry’s new rooftop bar, The Citrus Club. Of course, it’s adorable & I can’t wait to sip their tropical drinks in the summer.
Dinner | After drinks we headed to dinner at this small Cuban restaurant we found while walking around earlier in the day called Cuban Gypsy Pantry. The food was amazing! It totally took us back to our trip to Cuba & it made me miss living downtown watching everyone walk by the windows.
Entertainment | If you’ve never been to Theatre 99 for an improv show you are missing out! Wednesday & Thursday nights are Laugh for a Lincoln which means $5 tickets. It’s the perfect date night or girls night out, but I wouldn’t bring the family. I really can’t say enough about this place it’s just great & local.
Nightcap | We finished the night off with drinks at what is now one of our favorite bars in Charleston, Doar Bros. I truly love everything about this spot. It’s cozy & the drinks are truly great. The staff is so welcoming & do yourself a favor & order the bread pudding if it’s on the menu.
Breakfast | After sadly checking out of our room we headed over to the new Hotel Bennet for coffee & breakfast. La Patisserie is the cutest spot that make me miss Paris. From the tile to the cutting boards on the wall I was smitten. Even though it’s on a busy part of King St you can’t hear the hustle & bustle outside.
After breakfast we strolled around downtown before we headed back home where we watched movies on the couch for the rest of the day. It was the perfect quick Staycation that we needed to unwind & just spend time together.
